Dear Coaches and PGB’s,
In hopes of avoiding any last minute confusion in advance of this year’s Nationals, this email is intended to advise you of the registration process and the eligibility of your athletes in order to race in the Senior Elite race at Nationals.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to compete in the Elite race, all athletes must be approved for an International Competition Card. As a reminder, the ICC is Triathlon Canada’s version of an ‘elite’ card, and once approved, athletes are eligible to be entered in ITU Continental Cup (or Pan Am Cup for the America’s) series races. The Kelowna elite race, is a Pan Am Cup race, so every athlete has to be approved for the ICC in advance to be eligible, no exceptions.
The cost of an ICC is $55 and application forms for them can be found here on our website http://triathloncanada.com/en/page.ch2?uid=IntlCompetitionCard.
Registration
Once approved for an International Competition Card, all athlete’s must be entered in the ITU registration system prior to the race. To register, please have them contact me at raceentries (at) triathloncanada.com. If they’ve been approved for an ICC, all they need to do is let me know that they would like to race in Kelowna and I will enter them with the ITU. If they haven’t been approved, I can’t enter them until they are.
Senior Elite Athletes DO NOT have to register on the Apple Triathlon website with the Local Organizing Committee. They only have to register through Triathlon Canada, and there is no entry fee this year for the elite race.
The eligibility and registration procedure also applies to all Under-23 athletes, as they compete with the Senior Elites in the Pan Am Cup race.
Once again I hope this clears up any confusion you might have with regards to the elite race. I am hoping that you will be able to help us out in informing any of your athletes that are intending to participate in the elite race of the eligibility and registration procedures mentioned above. If they are intending to participate and have not yet applied for an International Competition Card, please inform them do so as soon as possible.
Finally, for the PGB’s, Linda Kirk (copied) is the Assistant Technical Director for this year’s race and will be in contact with you approximately a week before the race to receive your complete membership list and a list of everyone who is cleared to race draft legal in the Junior race.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me,
Kind Regards,
frank
